If at least one applicant is a Georgia resident, the couple may apply in a county other than the county of the ceremony. If neither applicant is a Georgia resident, the application must be made in the Georgia county where the marriage will occur.

Houston County divorce records are Superior Court domestic records. Georgia Superior Court has exclusive divorce jurisdiction, and Houston County's Benchmark search includes domestic case types such as divorce, annulment, custody, child support, visitation, contempt, family violence, legitimation, modification, paternity, protective order, and separate maintenance.
For a public search, use the county's Benchmark court search and filter by party name, case number, Superior Civil, and domestic case type where appropriate. Some records in a divorce file may be redacted or restricted, especially when a protective order, minor child, protected address, or sensitive financial information is involved.
A divorce file may contain the complaint, service papers, answers, motions, temporary orders, parenting or support filings, a settlement agreement, and the final decree. Houston County Marriage Ceremony
Judge Kristen Warren Harris performs marriage ceremonies from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the last Friday of each month and one group ceremony on the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00 PM. Applicants must already have the marriage license in hand before the ceremony date. An appointment is required.

Certified Houston County Marriage Copies
A certified marriage copy is the record most often needed for name changes, benefits, insurance, immigration, and other proof-of-marriage uses.
